Caesar had a little accident yesterday but he's fine. I had been in the bedroom (we're still trying to kitten proof it but its hard because we don't have much storage) for most of the day, I don't think he realised I was in the living room and I heard him squeeking in the hallway outside the bedroom door as he does when we're in there and he's not allowed in.
I got up from the couch to show him I was in the living room and then I heard a bit of crash and ran to the hallway to find that the ironing board had fallen over and Caesar was trapped under a towel that had been draped over it. At first I was really worried as I once had a peice of MDF (chipboard) furniture fall on a cat and give it minor internal injuries. I don't think the ironing board actually fell directly on him. He of course had darted off after wriggling out from under the towel and was hiding just behind the sofa with his back to me.
I didn't have any regular treats so I had to coax him out with a bit of cheese. I looked him over and he seemed fine, no broken bones or blood anywhere. Later on he cuddled really close to me right under my chin (which he never does) so I guess he was a bit frightented but he seems otherwise alright. It really gave me a fright though.
Their nails are really sharp and I am going to have to start cutting them. Caesar is generally good in not using his claws on us but Lyra just scratches if she wants food or toys or is trying to climb up us. Sometimes when they are chasing eachother they end up running over me and I've got tons of tiny claw scratches all over my arms. I did see those soft claw things that you can put over a cats claws but I'm not sure that I feel its right to do that to them although I guess its far better then declawing them.
We got our PetPlanet delivery today. Two massive bags of CatSan litter which I hope will last at least a month. I have a bad back so I can't really carry cat litter up and down the hill from the grocery store anymore, by ordering it we could get tons and also save some money I think.
I ordered their harnesses as well but I won't break those out for another couple of weeks till their b-day. I also got some organic treats called Catberry treats but they litterally wrinkled their noses up at them. I assumed that the treats would have some sort of meat flavour but actually they are cranberry! What cat likes cranberry? what a waste of money. However, I did discover that our local waitrose has two kind of Temptations so we'll be getting those next time we go shopping.
The kittens will be 3 months old soon and we're thinking of doing a special contest for all the kitties on t'internet to celebrate.
Today's pictographs...
Are you insuating that it's NOT a good idea to sit on my sister's head?
Momma's legs make a nice hidey hole on the couch
You can't see me momma!
Cuddling my momma after my accident, poor little me
We like to play with dad
Give me that micey dad!
I said, give me that MICEY!
(she is a little demon when it comes to her toys and she not only crawled up Bryan's leg but stayed there even after he dropped the mouse. Luckily he is wearing his claw proof jeans)
I think the micey go in here
(Caesar likes to drop his mice in Bryan's sneakers and then hunt them out)
Oops! Caught in the act of wire chewing.
I'm innocent as always momma.
Would you kindly stop interrupting our telly time with that noisey red box?!

PS thanks to everyone for suggesting blogrolling. I had installed it before I posted but when I previewed it I didn't think it was working. Seems to be working fine now :)

Kitten claws are very sharp and need to be trimmed often. My mom has looked into the soft claws also. I'm pretty sure Monty Q wears them if you have questions.
Glad to hear Caesar is ok from his accident. I hate when things like that happen!!

PS As always, today's pictures are too cute!
Poor Caesar! I am glad he is ok. I bet he was very scared though, poor mite.
Wonderful pictures as always! They get more adorable everytime I see them.
I keep telling my mommy to fix our blogroller, but her laziness keeps her from it. Maybe I'll get her to look into it soon for me. It sure would be more convenient!
What lovely pictures, they are such a cute couple ! Concerning the claws when they are more grown up it will get better, do you have a good scratching post ? Don't even think about declawing that's so cruel !! In Europe it is legally not allowed to declaw a cat unless there is really a very serious reason but not for scratches or furniture.
Goodness Caesar, I bet you scared your Mom half to death!
Do you guys have a scratching post to scratch on???
Oh Caesar be careful! That would have given our Momma a fright too. Momma said to tell you both that I am full grown but I am only about the size of either of you. Momma says I am her perpetual kitten, I don't understand what she means cuz I'm full grown. Momma just loved the "innocent" picture. She said awwwwwww again and went all googley eyed...

That sounds like a very scairty accident! I get my clawrs trimmed all the time, so I am used to it. But I do not enjoy it.
I do not think I would enjoy cranberry treats either.
Cranberry Treats? For kitties? We do not think so!
We are glad no serious injuries happened. They are so cute and already getting big and biggerer.
Oh we're glad that Caesar is ok - but it's always scary!
Our mommy bought us some gross cranberry treats too - not sure what they're thinking!
Mommy nips our front claws with a regular nail clipper, and she's done it since we were really little like you guys. It works, but she has to do it every 3 to 4 weeks.
P.S. Casear - putting toys in shoes is the best game ever! Jake
We are very glad Caesar is okay.
Mommy uses a regular (people) nail clipper for our claws too. It works better than any of the kitty clippers she has used. Be careful not to cut into the pink though.
I am a good girl and let my brothers sniff me while Mommy trims my toes, but Riley is a squirmer so sometimes she accidently goes too far into the pink. I tell him it wouldn't be so bad if he didn't squirm. It is very hard to trim Kesey's toes, because his claws are black and it is very hard to tell where the quick is.
The best part is that we get treats afterwards. That is why I do not squirm.

Hi you two little cuties! Nice to meet you both. The important thing about Soft Paws (the caps) is to get the right size. For you two...tiny!
I wear them as do other kitties I know. I can retract me claws, grab, jump and "scratch" just like I wasn't wearing them.
I'm annoyed for the first hour I have them on, but after that, I'm good for weeks.
I hope you'll stop by and visit me sometime! I can't wait to see your leashes.

You are both such cuties!!!! We are so glad you didn't get hurt Caesar! Ironing boards are scarry! When I was little I use to climb Dad's legs when he had shorts on! (hehehehehe) (Sam)
Your FL furiends,
We're glad Caesar wasn't hurt by the ironing board falling. They sure do get into mischief!
jans funny farm
Falling things can be very scary. We agree with the rest of the kitties, a regular people nail cutter works best, or get the scissor kind of clippers, not the guillotine kind. They are easier to control. Mom has to clip her friend's kittie's nails because they are too afraid to do it.

Oh no Caesar. We're glad you're okay. Wrigley got hurt the other day too. He tried to peek into the dishwasher as I was closing it and his paws got smooshed. :-X He was okay too.
