I'm Monkee, a Maine Coon who lives in New Jersey with two humans and eight other kitty siblings.
Mom says that one of the reasons why Caesar may be crying when he uses the stinky box is that he's letting his mom know that he did his business and needs to be cleaned. When we were kittens she witnessed us doing it at the breeders and that's what the breeder said. Either way, make sure he visits the V-E-T just to make sure there isn't anything wrong with him.

PS: About Lyra goin fur the bean food at dinner time: try serving them a small portion of their food just before you eat. They's growin babies an may need to eat more food more often.

I second the idea about making sure that there is food available for Lyra when you eat. Also, don't give her any of your food because there may be something in it that might make her sick, for example onions. Onions can be toxic to cats. See:

Plus it can make them into a real mooch! When my Beezer was a kitten and did the samething I would put him in front of his dish when we sat down to eat. After a few meals he stopped bugging me and went to his dish for his food. He never bothers us for our food now as a grown-up cat.
